Bring it back

Pull the steel into the green stress band. Then release it. Can you return it to its original length?

YOUR MISSIONReach 150–220 MPa, then release.+100 points when you solve it · unlimited retries
Start pulling, or use Nudge + for small steps. You control when to stop.

How the game models a tensile test

Representative teaching curves for mild steel and dense alumina. Strain controls the test; stress is interpolated from each curve. The release model recovers the elastic strain using the initial modulus (200 GPa for steel, 380 GPa for alumina). Post-necking unloading is only a simplified illustration. Shape changes are exaggerated; these are not design allowables.

Each challenge uses one stress–strain plot. The cyan dashed line is the release path. Material choice and geometry, temperature, defects and loading can change real behavior.
